The School of Christian Studies exists to enable men and women, through theological studies, to deepen their knowledge of God and of themselves so that each might live honouring God in their families, workplaces, communities and churches.
The aims of the School are to:
- Educate men and women in the basic tenets of the Christian faith, providing skills in biblical interpretation and application.
- Develop Christian thinking, relating Biblical faith to personal, work and world situations.
- Deepen personal and corporate commitment to the gospel and the work of God’s kingdom in this world.
SOCS is evangelical and interdenominational. We are committed to the authority of the Bible, and to the historic evangelical emphases regarding the person and work of Christ.
Our lecturers come from a variety of church backgrounds, and while the emphasis at SOCS is on the beliefs which unite Bible believing Christians, students are also exposed to the various traditions within Evangelicalism. Many of our lecturers work in full-time ministries and bring a great deal of practical experience to their lectures.
